What Voltline Does

Battery. Drive unit. Power electronics. Charging. That is the entire service catalog.

Voltline does ONE thing — hybrid and EV high-voltage system repair. Within that scope, we go deep. Outside that scope, we refer you to a shop that can help. The six services below cover every job we will accept.

Pricing is honest. Diagnostic-first workflow: we run the diagnostic before quoting the repair. If the diagnostic finds a root cause outside our scope, we tell you and refer you out — and we charge only for the diagnostic time at that point. We do not upsell.

Hybrid Battery Rebuild

Toyota / Lexus, Honda hybrid, Ford hybrid. Module-level diagnosis. Replace weak modules only. Pack rebalance to factory ±10 mV tolerance. Performance verification on a 14-mile loop. 36-month warranty on rebuilt modules.

The deep-volume work. Most Prius packs (2nd / 3rd / 4th gen) need only 2–6 modules replaced out of 28. The dealer sells you a refurb pack at $3,400–$4,800. We rebuild your existing pack for $1,200–$2,400.

Tesla Pack Diagnostics + Module-Level Repair

All Tesla models. Cell-level voltage and resistance scan (4,416 cells on Model 3 LR; 7,104 on Model S Plaid). Module-level fault identification. Single-module replacement — the capability most independents lack, and the capability the Tesla Service Center has largely abandoned in favor of full-pack quotes.

$385 diagnostic. Module replacement $2,400–$4,200 depending on platform + module + labor.

Drive Unit + Transaxle Repair

Toyota / Lexus hybrid transaxle (planetary gearset + MG1 / MG2 motor-generators). Tesla drive unit (front + rear) bearing replacement, inverter repair, encoder fault diagnosis. Most independents replace the entire drive unit; we repair the failed component where possible.

$185 diagnostic. Repair $1,800–$4,800 varies by platform and severity.

Power Electronics — Inverter + DC-DC + OBC

Inverter rebuilds. DC-DC converter (the "low-voltage charger" that keeps the 12 V battery alive in a BEV — when it fails, the BEV cannot start). On-board charger (OBC) repair. Common failure modes include IGBT failure, bridge-rectifier faults, and switching-loss thermal damage.

$245 diagnostic. Repair $640–$2,800 depending on component.

Charging System Diagnostics

Why your EV won't take a charge. AC charging fault diagnosis (J1772 + Tesla NACS connector). DC fast-charging fault diagnosis (CCS / NACS). At-home charger commissioning + EVSE diagnostic — we can come to your house for an EVSE issue at $145/hr + drive time.

$185 diagnostic. Charge-port replacement $385–$640. PCS fault repair $1,400–$2,400.

Tesla Service (everything Tesla-specific)

MCU + instrument cluster diagnostics. MCU1 eMMC repair (a common failure mode on early Model S/X — Tesla SC quote is $1,800–$3,200 for MCU replacement; we repair the existing MCU for $640). Body control module + ECU work. Tesla-specific software fault diagnosis. Tesla-Approved Service status.

What Voltline Does Not Do

We are deeply specialized. We refer everything else.

  • Body work, paint, collision — referred to Macadam Auto Body (Portland) for non-Tesla, or to a Tesla-Approved Body Shop for Tesla collision.
  • Brakes (non-regen-related), alignment, tires, suspension — referred to general-purpose shops. We do regen-related brake work because it touches the hybrid powertrain.
  • Internal combustion engine repair — Voltline does NOT work on engines except as part of hybrid powertrain diagnostic. PHEV ICE components are not serviced in isolation.
  • General-purpose ICE vehicles — Voltline does not.
